Marchamalo is a small town located in Guadalajara [Spain]. This small town is starting to grow again, many people is coming here to live and work. The  aim of the competition was to design a new central space for the neighbours, a new building full of life where everything could be done.

Almost every important building in Marchamalo, and also in the other towns close to it, is made of brickwork, that's why the team chose this material, to continue with the global image of the area, but giving it a reinterpretarion. Usually light come inside through big openings made in the brick wall, but the idea here is to develope a façade system where small distances and variations led the light come into the building, making a relation betwen the spaces in the brick façade and the uses distributed inside the building.

Marchamalo also needs a new meeting point, a new public space for the population of the town. The idea is to distribute all the services in the perimeter of the site in order to create a big PATIO inside. This inner space is visible from every part of the building and also from the street, because the ground level is completelly transparent, what makes a connection betwen the street and the inner public space. Everything is connected by two small tunnels, that can be closed and open at pleasure, allowing the entrance to the main part of the building to everyone who wants to have a break or meet with somebody in the new MEETING POINT OF MARCHAMALO
